Maximizing the potential of autoflowers in a large scale outdoor production
Pure Healing got their pre-license to grow in November 2019 and their final legal approval in August 2021. The first few months for any licensed grower are often the most critical based on Dutch Passion’s extensive experience with various legal growers around the world.
In the formative initial months the head grower defines the type of grow and all the fine details which need to be in place to make it happen, including the type of cannabis seeds they will use. It’s quite a daunting challenge and often one which requires significant capital investment.
Starting in August 2021 Pure Healing knew that the outdoor/greenhouse season could be a little too short to complete a grow cycle of feminised cannabis seeds, autoflower seeds would be preferred. For several years, Dutch Passion, has specialised in consultancy for legal cannabis growers around the world.
Working with the Dutch Government (the Ministry of Economic Affairs) has allowed Dutch Passion to export certified cannabis seeds with phyto-sanitary certificates, confirming the seeds have been produced and shipped free of any pests/disease.
The best approach for the first harvest was to use autoflowering cannabis seeds. Auto Skywalker Haze, Auto Cinderella Jack and Auto Kerosene Krash were the high-THC strains. CBD Auto Charlotte’s Angel was the high CBD, low THC strain with below 1% THC.
As you can see below, some of their results were spectacular with THC levels approaching 30%. For a first commercial grow that is an exceptional result and a reward for Pure Healing’s organic approach with the latest autoflower genetics.

Strict product processes and quality control
Understanding why medical cannabis is so important to their customers comes naturally to Pure Healing. The need for strict control of all production parameters is fully understood by all team members. Co-founder Sergio Neto explained “I started my cannabis journey more than 10 years ago. My grandmother was diagnosed with leukaemia. I learned how to grow, to harvest, dry and cure cannabis…transforming it to a tea or oil for her. It helped during a couple of years”
Today Pure healing have 5000m2 of outdoor production and 150m2 of greenhouse production. All their cultivation is done using proprietary organic methods.

Strict quality control throughout the production
When asked about Pure Healings approach to quality control Sergio commented “We have regular tests that we make during the grow cycles. However we also have 2 partnerships with scientific labs that help us and give us analytical data.” Pure Healing haven’t needed to invest large capital sums on indoor LED lighting, the mild Portuguese climate offers some of Europe’s sunniest weather, perfect for cannabis cultivation. Pure Healing have invested heavily in other areas of their business, commenting that “we have a very specific drying room, designed exclusively for our conditions”. This allows slow, finely controlled bud drying. Something which licensed growers in other parts of the world know is essential in order to create a fine-quality end product rather than bland over-dried weed.
Aiming to surpass the public’s most demanding needs
With THC levels approaching 30%, Pure Healing’s organically grown buds have exceeded customer expectations. When asked if Pure Healing’s production capacity was destined for domestic consumption or export Sergio explained that they sold their buds to both markets.
As an outdoor/greenhouse grower Pure Healing have a low carbon footprint, something that appeals to their customer base. Use of sunlight rather than artificial lighting also has a valuable impact on the overall production costs.
